Where to go see Christmas Lights in Boston and Surrounding Area

For many people, one of the best things about the holidays is the spectacular light displays. Some of the displays in the Boston area are so amazing that they’ve become famous, while others are brand new sensations that are destined to become time honored Boston traditions. Don’t miss out on your chance to see these beautiful lights displays while they’re still here.

Zoolights

Zoolights is an event held yearly by the Stone Zoo in Stoneham. Many thousands of tiny holiday lights go into the making of this event — the whole zoo is alive with light! Kids also have an opportunity to visit Santa’s giant castle, where they can meet both Santa Claus and his reindeer during this event (holiday photo ops are available, too.)

Zoolights admission is $8 for children ($7 for zoo members,) $10 for adults ($9 for zoo members,) $9 for seniors ($8 for zoo members,) and kids under 2 get in free. The event runs November 24-December 31, with one day off for Christmas. Don’t miss this winter wonderland of lights — it’s an activity that the whole family will love.

Blink!

Blink! is much more than just Christmas lights: It’s called a “light and sound experience.” Faneuil Hall Marketplace offers this all new holiday show starting on November 29th. The fir tree at the center of the action is a staggering 85 foot tall Christmas tree, making it the biggest in the entire northeast United States. The LED lights and Holiday Pops music are coordinated to make an exciting and immersive show.

The display will remain through January 1, 2018, with five shows every night. The shows start at 4:30pm and then occur every half hour. Many visitors enjoy the show so much that they end up staying around for another show. With the large variety of stores in Faneuil Hall Marketplace, you’ll have plenty to stay busy between shows.

With the twinkling lights, holiday music, and exciting atmosphere, you’ll find this one of the best holiday displays in the Boston area.

Winter Reimagined

Winter Reimagined is held at the Tower Hill Botanical Garden in Boylston. The light displays are found in all corners of the formal gardens — several acres worth of glittering lights! Follow the lighted paths to explore the up-cycled igloo, the fire pits, the “wishing tree” forest, and thousands of handmade unique ornaments on the many trees in the garden.

Winter Reimagined occurs on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday until January 7, 2018. The garden is closed on December 24-25, December 31, and January 1, 2018. Admission is free for Tower Hill Botanical Garden members. For non-members, admission is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, $5 for children 6-18, and free for kids 5 and under. Plan to spend a few hours there since there’s so much to explore and enjoy.

If you’re headed out to enjoy some of these Christmas lights displays and events this year, don’t forget to bundle up well. Have a great holiday season!
